Although completely unplanned it is quite ironic that we launch Suite 203 Communications just as 2013 gets underway. While we are missing a one from our name to make it the official year of our boutique agency, we have big things planned.

In 2012, things only got bigger and better. Social media grew leaps and bounds once again so we thought we’d take a moment to remember just a few videos and campaigns that truly went viral.
Gangnam Style: One billion hits and counting. This South Korean dance video has now taken over from Justin Bieber’s Baby as the most watched video on You Tube ever!
TNT in Belgium: This highly drama-tized stunt that took place in Belgium not only caught the attention of onlookers but made it big online with over 42 million views.
Kony: Joseph Kony may have been all the buzz back in March with his 30 minute long video. While he didn’t make 2012 the year to end crimes against humanity, he did capture over 96 million hits.
Isaac’s Live Lip-Dub Proposal: This heartwarming wedding proposal video got Amy to say yes to Isaac’s “I Think I Want to Marry You” stunt but it also scored over 17 million views.
These are just but a few of the videos that got us talking in 2012. What’s interesting to note is that most of them didn’t come along with huge marketing budgets. They relied solely on brand building viral buzz. Word of mouth, Facebook posts, Twitter feeds and email forwards were the caveats for their success.
In this new digital world, a brand’s success no longer depends on its advertising budget but more so on what it has to say. Creating relevant, meaningful, engaging content. Answering consumers’ questions before they are even poised, standing out from the crowd to garner media exposure, initiating conversations online, connecting one to one with the end user.
It truly is a social world. Putting a website online doesn’t cut it. A brand needs to get out there to make people want to visit that website. It takes dedication. It takes the right mix of relevant and search optimized content. It takes knowing the right people in the right mediums.

While we don’t know what the next craze of 2013 will be, we do know that the next big hit (or PSY wannabee) will tell their story for the whole world to hear.
